Small bulk carriers, which are used for trading between ports on one island or continent, but could be used as cabotage vessels as well.
Their small hulls mean they can get through narrow aisles or reefs unsuitable for the bigger carriers.
From the Black Sea such vessels usually sail to the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. The average deadweight is 6000 metric tons.

Their small size allows Handysize vessels to enter smaller ports to pick up cargoes, and because usually they are fitted with cranes – they can often load and discharge cargoes at ports that lack the respective infrastructure.
Vessels of that type are longdistance vessels, for example, from the Black Sea to Southeast Asia countries.
